MEET JOHN MCCAIN
Sen. John McCain
John Sidney McCain III was born on August 29, 1936. He is currently the senior United States Senator from Arizona and the Republican Presidential nominee for the Republican Party.

John McCain has seven children: Doug, Sidney, Andy, Meghan, Jack, Jimmy, and Bridget. He is married to Cindy Lou Hensley, a philanthropist and a successful business person, who is the chair of one of the largest Anheuser-Busch beer distributors in the U.S., Hensley & Co. She founded and ran a non-profit organization, American Voluntary Medical Team, and serves on the boards of several charitable organizations.

McCain was first elected to the House of Representatives in November, 1982, where he served as congressman until 1986 when he was elected to the U.S. Senate.

In 2004 McCain was overwhelmingly reelected with over 77% of the vote.

His reputation as a maverick with steadfast beliefs, from his time at the Naval Academy to his presently held Senate seat, have made McCain one of this century’s greatest leaders of governmental reform and with ending wasteful spending in Washington.
MEET SARAH PALIN
Gov. Sarah Palin
Sarah Louise Heath Palin was born on February 11, 1964. She is currently the Governor of Alaska and the Republican Vice Presidential running mate with John McCain.

As the first woman Governor of Alaska, she has made history once again as being the first woman Republican Vice Presidential running mate!

Governor Palin is the mother of five children: Track, Bristol, Willow, Piper, and Trig. Her husband, Todd, who she first met in high school, is a member of the United Steelworkers Union and is also a champion snowmobile racer.

We congratulate Governor Palin on her impeccable record of public service and her recent selection as John McCain's Vice Presidential running mate.

During her speech at the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Cindy McCain put out a call for help to those on the Gulf Coast who are affected by Hurricane Gustav: "I would ask that each one of us commit to join together to aid those in need as quickly as possible. As John has been saying for the last several days, this is a time when we take off our Republican hats and put on our American hats."

On Friday, August 29, 2008, Sen. John McCain made political history in Dayton, Ohio when he named Alaska Governor, Sarah Palin, his candidate for Vice Presidential running mate. Governor Palin will be the first female Republican Vice Presidential candidate.
August 1, 2008: Palin Champions Natural Gas Pipeline from Alaska, through Canada, to "Lower 48"
The Alaskan House of Representatives and State Senate voted to approve a 1750 mile TransCanada pipeline, championed by Sarah Palin, from the North Slope through Canada to deliver natural gas to the market. The House and Senate approved $500 million for the pipeline company, TransCanada, to build the pipeline that will not be controlled by oil producers, such as the oil pipeline from the North Slope to Valdez.
